The Honorable Pamela F. Gordon made history in March 1997 as the first woman to become the Premier of Bermuda. Ms. Gordon began her political career in 1989. She was appointed to the Senate in 1990 and in 1992 was sworn in as the Minister of Youth, Sport and Recreation. She held that portfolio until 1995 when she was appointed as the Minister of the Environment, Planning and Natural Resources. She held this portfolio until becoming Premier. She is currently the Leader of the Opposition.
