Karen Shepherd is a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Utah's 2nd District and serves as co-chair of the Democrat Freshman Reform Committee and on the Executive Committee of the Congressional Caucus for Women's Issues. Previously, Ms. Shepherd was a Utah State Senator for District 1, Director of Development and Community Relations for the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah, and served nine years as president of Webster Publishing and editor of network magazine. She was also an English teacher for 11 years. Ms. Shepherd has extensive experience in community service, serving as co-chair of the Utah Democratic Health Policy Commission, on the Board of Directors for the Coalition for Utah's Future/Project 200, on the Advisory Board of United Way, and on the Executive Advisory Board of US WEST.
