Bill English was Minister of Finance and Deputy Prime Minister from October 2008 to December 2016 and Prime Minister of New Zealand until the change of government in October 2017, ​and retired ​from politics in March 2018. Bill English guided the New Zealand economy through the global financial crisis to be one of the faster growing developed economies with sustainable government surplu​ses​.

Bill English also focussed on public sector reform, public balance sheet management and led the development and implementation of Social Investment, a world leading policy innovation for large scale social services. He oversaw significant investment in
digitalising government and improving results and customer experience of public services.

Bill is now runs a consultancy with commercial, government and not for profit clients in Australia and |New Zealand . He is a director of Wesfarmers a large Australian conglomerate,Chair of Mt Cook Alpine Salmon and serves on the reference group for the review of the Australian Public Service

Bill English is married to Dr Mary English a medical practitioner and they have 6 children.

Mr. English's Fellowship will begin on October 22 and conclude on October 23.
