Alan Steelman was elevated to the U.S. House of Representatives from the fifth congressional district in Texas in 1972. From 1969 to 1972, he was Executive Director of the President's Advisory Council on Minority Business Enterprise. He was also a member of the Special White House Speaker's Task Force on Phases I and II of the Administration's Economic Program while he was in Washington. Before going to Washington, Mr. Steelman had been Executive Director of the Sam Wyly Foundation of Dallas, where he was also Executive Director of the Republican Party of Dallas County from 1966 to 1969.
