Please join us for a conversation on the nuts and bolts of campaigning and governing with David Axelrod, former chief strategist and senior advisor to President Barack Obama. The event will be moderated by Massachusetts State Senator Eric Lesser, who leads the “Hi! I’m Running for Office” series at Harvard Kennedy School. The discussion will cover campaign strategy and the "politics" of policy-making.


ABOUT DAVID AXELROD:
A University of Chicago alumnus, David Axelrod is a veteran of American politics and journalism and the former chief strategist and senior advisor to President Barack Obama. He currently serves as director of the University of Chicago's non-partisan Institute of Politics; senior political commentator for CNN; and host of The Axe Files, a top-rated podcast jointly produced by CNN and his institute. Axelrod, a former political writer for the Chicago Tribune and, later, media strategist for 150 state, local and national political campaigns, is also the author of The New York Times best-selling memoir, "Believer: My Forty Years in Politics.”

ABOUT ERIC LESSER
Eric P. Lesser was first elected to the Massachusetts Senate on November 4, 2014 and reelected in 2016. He is Senate Chairman of the Joint Committee on Economic Development & Emerging Technologies. Prior to becoming a state Senator, Lesser worked in the Obama White House, first as Special Assistant to Senior Adviser David Axelrod, and later as Director of Strategic Planning for the President’s Council of Economic Advisers. Lesser began as a young aide on President Obama’s historic 2008 presidential campaign, and was described as “the face of the promised Obama political generation” by the New York Times. Senator Lesser has a law degree from Harvard Law School and a bachelor’s degree in government from Harvard College. He is a Fellow with the Truman National Security Project and NewDEAL, and is a World Economic Forum Global Shaper.
