STATEMENT ON BEHALF OF FRESHMAN MEMBERS OF 115TH CONGRESS

Cambridge, MA – During the Bipartisan Program for Newly Elected Members of Congress at Harvard Kennedy School’s Institute of Politics last week, Republican and Democrat Freshman members of the 115th Congress came together for the sole purpose of discussing how they will work across party lines in Congress. Members-elect began the spirited, yet productive conversation by focusing on similarities within the group such as having never run for office before, serving in the military, law enforcement, local and state government; as prosecutors, in the business sector, etc. We also agreed to meet on a regular basis as we further develop relationships and policy.

While we fully understand the tremendous challenges ahead, we chose not to focus on our differences, but instead on the unwavering commitment that we all share, to serve our constituents and our Nation.

The Freshman class of the 115th Congress is a talented and diverse group of public servants, who vow to work together, when we can and where we can, for the American People.

Signed by
Congresswoman-elect Val Demings
115th Congress Freshman Class Democrat Co-President

Congressman-elect Jack Bergman
115th Congress Freshman Class Republican Class President
