HARVARD’S INSTITUTE OF POLITICS LAUNCHES

CAMPAIGN AND ADVOCACY WORKSHOP

New Hampshire Campaign Veteran Mike Vlacich to Lead New IOP Initiative

Cambridge, MA – Harvard's Institute of Politics (IOP), at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, has launched a new initiative allowing undergraduates to take a deep-dive into the inner-workings of today’s political and advocacy campaigns.  The IOP's "Campaign and Advocacy” workshop will run for eight weeks this spring.  The workshop will be led by New Hampshire campaign veteran Mike Vlacich.

Vlacich is currently a Senior Advisor to United States Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH).  He previously served as Campaign Manager for Shaheen's 2014 re-election campaign.  Vlacich also held the post of Coordinated Campaign Manager for the New Hampshire Democratic Party in 2004 and as Campaign Manager for Governor John Lynch’s successful 2006 re-election bid.

‎The IOP is offering a hands-on look at campaign mechanics, aiming to improve students’ working knowledge of campaign management and help them build a portfolio of experience for use on political and advocacy efforts‎.  Student participants will attend weekly workshops that will feature Republican and Democratic political operatives and campaign strategists. Sessions will focus on fundraising, communications, polling, social media outreach and other campaign areas.

"Our students are the future of politics," said Esten Perez, Communications Director for Harvard’s Institute of Politics. "The Campaign and Advocacy workshop will ensure that students have the tools they need to lead 21st century campaigns.”
